What is Certified Land Management?

Certified Land Management (CLM) is an integrated set of planning processes and on-ground activities. It has a unique combination of features:

CLM helps landholders improve productivity, risk management and environmental and animal welfare outcomes and it verifies the landholders’ environmental and animal welfare credentials so their achievements and those of their support organisations can be recognised and rewarded.

CLM integrates environmental and animal welfare with broader productivity and risk management considerations. These are all interdependent parts of good business.

CLM is whole-of-farm so that it can be used to certify all land management and animal welfare activities on the farm.

CLM is landscape linked because each farm is not an island.

CLM is not prescriptive so the particular features of each property can be taken into account.

CLM is externally audited and it complies with internationally recognised management standards hence enabling local, national and international recognition.

CLM landholders have access to specially designed web-based software and they are helped by ALMG accredited trainers.

CLM ticks all the boxes for landholders and industry and NRM program managers. It is

  • user friendly
  • takes account of the capabilities and aspirations of individual landholders
  • enables creativity and sustained commitment
  • meets the community’s requirement to have measurable improvement in environmental and animal welfare performance.
