Forum on Agricultural Innovation for the Twenty First Century

Attendees at the ALMG Forum on Agricultural Innovation for the Twenty First Century

Improving linkages between on-farm productivity, market competitiveness and environmental and animal welfare management was the central theme of discussions between landholders, agri-business representatives, politicians and policy advisers at a recent forum at Roma, Queensland.

The Forum was convened by the ALM Group with support from the Maranoa Landcare Association and the Federal Government Landcare Program.

The key point of several presentations was that there needs to be better alignment of government and commercial drivers to ensure we protect and enhance the productive resource base in ways that improve farm-gate profitability.

Release of Twenty First Century Landcare paper

ALMG published a discussion paper to further build on the momentum gained during the Roma forum.

Twenty First Century Landcare elaborates on issues discussed at the forum and argues for policy and program innovation to  capture synergies between environmental management, agricultural competitiveness and profitability, capture synergies between public and private investment in land management, and  enable Landcare to operate effectively across these spaces.
